VNG has signed a letter of intent with its partners EnBW and the Japanese energy group JERA with the aim of jointly conducting a feasibility study on the construction of an ammonia cracker in Rostock. The project marks an important step towards actively driving forward the hydrogen ramp-up.

Together with TEH2, a subsidiary of TotalEnergies and EREN Group, VNG is driving forward the import of green ammonia to Europe. The cooperation will enable VNG Handel & Vertrieb GmbH to purchase green ammonia on the German coast and make it available to its customers directly or in the form of hydrogen from 2028.

The parent company of VNG Austria, VNG Handel & Vertrieb GmbH, has signed its first gas supply contract with the Algerian state-owned energy company SONATRACH.

The contract lays the foundation for a trusting supply relationship between the two companies and strengthens the German-Algerian energy partnership.

Together with the Norwegian energy company Equinor, the project H2GE Rostock will investigate the import, production and distribution of blue hydrogen and ammonia. The project forms the basis for a hydrogen- and CO₂-hub in the Rostock area and thus for local and regional value creation in eastern Germany.

As part of the innovation project Energiepark Bad Lauchstädt, the intelligent generation of green hydrogen from wind power is being tested on a large scale in central Germany for the first time. The project partner are investigating the production, storage, transport and economic use of green H2 under real conditions and on an industrial scale.
